Liberal Democrat Transport Minister Baroness Kramer has today (November 18) announced that all of the stations on the Crossrail project will have step free access.
The facilities will be enabled through £14m of investment and will make it easier for passengers to board and alight trains once the services begin in 2019.
With just over 500 days to go, Liberal Democrat Pensions Minister Steve Webb has launched a public information campaign to help people understand the historic reforms which will introduce a flat-rate State Pension.
The Liberal Democrats have made sure that the Government gives today's pensioners a fair deal, while protecting tomorrow's pensioners too by making it easier to save for retirement.
Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman for Norwich North, James Wright, is backing a move to change the law to give publicans renting from the giant pub chains a fairer deal.
He wants a new clause written into the Small Business Bill which would stop large pub companies charging hugely inflated prices and excessive rents to their tenants.
Royal British Legion Riders visited Borough Hall last week to be presented with a wreath by Mayor Dave Hodgson on behalf of Bedford Borough Council. The wreath was taken to Tyne Cot Cemetery in Belgium, the largest Commonwealth Cemetery in the world of either the First or Second World War, with 11,954 burials.
The result in yesterday's by-election in Queen Edith's (Cambridge) was:
Lib Dem 933 36.5% (+1.2)
Labour 790 30.9% (-8.8)
Conservative 614 24.0% (+5.2)
Green 222 8.7% (+2.4)
This is the one ward in Cambridge City which is not in the constituency of Cambridge but in South Cambs, Andrew Lansley's constituency. It became a national target for Labour in 2012 - with a "tell Lansley what we think of his reforms of the NHS" campaign which overwhelmed the steady ward work of a good, long-standing councillor.
Bedford Borough Council is freezing all of its parking charges for next year, meaning 2015 will be the fifth straight year of Mayor Dave Hodgson's town centre car park charge freeze.
The freeze approved by Mayor Dave's Cabinet applies to all Council car parks and all on-street parking. The ongoing fall in the real cost of parking is in stark contrast to the situation in towns elsewhere nearby and across the country, with charges rising with inflation or more in some cases, as massive government cuts to local authority funding continue. Here in Bedford, Mayor Dave's drive to support a thriving town centre is instead delivering this further boost for local shoppers and traders, in defiance of inflation and parking running costs.
Liberal Democrat health minister Norman Lamb has welcomed moves by the police and NHS services in the West Midlands to improve mental health care.
The police force and NHS have signed a declaration to improve mental health crisis care and make the use of police cells for people with mental health issues, a thing of the past.
Doctors, social services and NHS leaders have been working together to ensure the NHS is prepared for the extra pressures brought on by the cold weather.
A package of measures including more action to keep people out of hospital, closer involvement of GPs and social services and a public information campaign encouraging people with non-urgent medical problems to use the full range of NHS services, have been put into place to help deal with any extra demand.
