In response to the breaking news about the collapse of Fountains, Cllr James Wright has issued the following statement as a follow-up to comments from Cllr Alan Waters on the Evening News website.
"Today is clearly another difficult day for Norwich City Council and my sympathies go out to those who work for Fountains and have lost their jobs.
I agree with Cllr Waters that the immediate priority should be about continuing to provide services to residents, and to offer support and guidance to those facing redundancy.
However, it seems to clear to me that ultimately we will have to have an independent inquiry into the award of the original contract to Connaught and must fully understand why this subsequent contract puts the City in a similar position again, leaving the provision of vital services up in the air."
