Liberal Democrat PEPC for the East of England, Linda Jack today slammed her union Unite for its partisan approach to the European Elections. Despite being a Unite representative at the Financial Services Authority Linda has been told she does not have the same right as another Labour PEPC, to submit an article to the Union's online newsletter.
She has been informed that the union rules only allow them to promote Labour candidates. Linda, a former Unison Branch Secretary for Bedfordshire County Council said "I am disgusted. I have been a committed trade unionist for many years, I pay my union dues the same as everyone else and have a long record, both within the trade union movement and my party of defending public services and workers' rights."
She added "members in many of our national trade unions are fed up with their unions' misplaced loyalty to a Labour government that has spearheaded the marketisation of public services and has little to distinguish it from the Tory government it replaced. It is time for members in all unions to push for disaffilliation from the discredited Labour Party"
